Prusa Research makes 3D printing easier than ever with a cloud-based slicer for any device

Prusa EasyPrint, the new slicer, launched just a couple of weeks ago, has already contributed to Prusa Research’s mission of making 3D printing  accessible for power users and newbies alike. Designed to simplify the slicing process, this web-based solution lets you prepare your prints from any device, be it a smartphone, a tablet, or a laptop – all with no need to install any software.

Traditional slicing software can be fairly challenging for beginners, due to sophisticated settings, steep learning curves, and installation requirements. EasyPrint boasts simplicity at its core: all you need to do is browse Printables, select a model, preview it in 3D, and slice it. EasyPrint automatically detects available printers through PrusaConnect, applies the necessary profiles, and slices the model right in the cloud, minimizing user input. You can also adjust settings if needed – feel free to move, resize, rotate, or auto-arrange your models. While more advanced parts of the process are handled automatically and stay behind the things, customizations remain accessible through PrusaSlicer, where you can export 3MF files to refine.

Prusa EasyPrint is designed with a wide range of users in mind. Beginners can start printing without the complexity of manual setup, while educators can  benefit from a browser-based system that works seamlessly on Chromebooks and shared devices. Tablet users, such as designers working with apps like Shapr3D, are able to send models directly to print without needing a computer. Even in households, makers can independently manage their own prints not being tech-savvy. As for seasoned users, they are sure to appreciate greater flexibility and convenience of remote slicing for.

Processing slicing tasks via Prusa’s cloud servers, EasyPrint operates smoothly even on low-power devices, such as tablets and phones. However, if you prefer more of a local control, feel free to use PrusaSlicer, downloading G-code files for manual printing or offline use.

EasyPrint is still in an early access phase and invite-only mode – to give Prusa Research an opportunity to assess server performance through user feedback and bug reports. The first 100 sign-ups were granted immediate access, and are now helping to optimize the slicer’s functionality. Well, we can only admire these ongoing efforts to make 3D printing easier than ever before. If you want your sneak peek at the future of slicing, don’t miss your chance – contact Prusa Research and give EasyPrint a try!
