Formism and Bambu Lab launch 3D printed shoes on MakerWorld

Formism, a new name in 3D printed footwear created by SCRY, stepped into the limelight with its debut on MakerWorld. Designed in collaboration with Bambu Lab, the project brings cutting-edge footwear design directly to desktop FFF 3D printers.

Following an initial release just days before the New Year, Formism launched a crowdfunding campaign on MakerWorld on January 12. The response was immediate – and impressive. The campaign surpassed its original $1,000 US goal by more than eight times, reaching roughly $8,500 US within weeks, demonstrating growing interest in print-at-home fashion items and tailored manufacturing.

“Formism was built around the idea that footwear can be a digital production asset,” the team explained, describing the brand’s focus on “precision, functionality, and aesthetics, designed specifically for home 3D printing.” Three models currently available are Persona Heel Shoes, Persona Unisex Shoes, and Persona Sneaker, each sold as a $49 US digital file. Bundled options include the Complete Package and the ACE Package, the latter offering a physical print produced by Bambu Lab.

The shoes are designed to be printed at home with flexible TPU materials, meaning users have full control over color, hardness, and fit. “Being able to adjust material properties and print multiple pairs from a single file changes how people think about footwear,” promised Formism.

Backed by SCRY’s experience in advanced additive manufacturing, the project builds on the company’s Digital Embryo concept and its work on fully 3D printed, everyday-wear footwear. As part of the partnership, Bambu Lab also introduced new TPU filament colors in January, including a standout silver option.

With the campaign running through mid-February 2026, Formism’s early success may well be a broader shift toward accessible, home-based 3D printed footwear.
