Stratasys Ltd. has released P3™ Silicone 25A, a revolutionary material developed in collaboration with silicone leader Shin-Etsu. Exclusively designed for the Stratasys Origin® DLP platform, the new silicone offers the performance of conventionally molded silicone to industrial 3D printing for the first time.
The general-purpose silicone addresses a key limitation in 3D printing: producing flexible, durable parts with the mechanical integrity of traditional silicone. Outstanding chemical resistance, thermal stability, and repeatability all make P3 Silicone 25A ideal for demanding sectors such as automotive, healthcare, consumer goods, and industrial manufacturing.
“The proliferation of additive manufacturing in production environments depends on specialty materials that perform to the standards of traditional methods,” Rich Garrity, Chief Business Unit Officer at Stratasys, said in a press release. “Our collaboration with Shin-Etsu delivers precisely that. P3 Silicone 25A gives manufacturers the flexibility of additive with the trusted performance of true silicone, backed by repeatable results and real-world data.”
The material has undergone thermal aging tests up to 1,000 hours at 150°C, proving to also meet biocompatibility and flame retardancy standards, which makes it well-suited for applications like seals, gaskets, vibration dampers, wearables, and soft-touch components. Notably, the material allows manufacturers to eliminate tooling and slash lead times, supporting localized, low-volume production. Additional options catering to specific applications and tailored to hardness levels are expected to follow this launch from the Stratasys-Shin-Etsu partnership.
“We are excited and proud to be working with Stratasys, the global leader in additive manufacturing, to bring 3D printable true silicone to market and grow together,” said Makoto Ohara, Head of Sales and Marketing, Shin-Etsu Silicones Europe B.V. “P3 Silicone 25A combines excellent physical properties and long-term reliability with detailed and precise printability.”
P3 Silicone 25A is now available in EMEA and APAC regions, expected to be available in the Americas later this year.
