Prusa launches Core One L and Signature Oak Edition in Prague

At a private media event in Prague, Josef Prusa unveiled a set of innovations tasked with a mission to expand both the scale and accessibility of 3D printing. In the spotlight was the Core One L, a larger and updated iteration of the existing Core One 3D printer. The announcement comes just days after Prusa was awarded with the Czech Medal of Merit for his contributions to the country’s economy – a fair acknowledgment of how profoundly his open-source approach has shaped maker and manufacturing communities across the globe.

The Core One L is a fully enclosed Core XY machine with a 300 × 300 × 330 mm build volume, which is roughly twice the print area of the standard Core One. Despite the expanded space, the chassis itself is only about 10% larger, thanks to lightweight aluminum construction. A newly engineered cast-metal, precision-milled heatbed delivers consistent temperatures with less than 2°C variance across 99% of the print surface. Airflow under the bed also helps heat the print chamber, maintaining stability for engineering-grade materials.

Prusa noted that the printer does not require cloud connectivity. “We’ve always believed users should be in control of their machines. Everything works offline—Wi-Fi is completely optional,” the company said in a statement.

Another part of the launch was the limited-run Signature Oak Core One. This edition features a CNC-milled oak chassis finished in hardwax oil, a nod to the long-running collaboration between the Prusa and Jelinek woodworking families. Only 250 exclusive units will be made.

Alongside the two printers, Prusa revealed open-source filament identification tags designed to help any printer automatically recognize material types, and early tests of a printable silicone formulation, potentially extending what desktop machines can fabricate. “We want to move beyond just plastic. The future of 3D printing is about materials, accessibility, and trust in open standards,” said Prusa.

The Core One L ships starting November 7 at $1,799, while pricing for the Signature Oak edition will be provided upon request.
