We keep talking about all the amazing things revealed at Formnext 2025: weeks later, this release remains exciting. This highlight from the world of additive manufacturing is the Bondtech INDX, an 8-material multi-tool upgrade for the Prusa CORE One 3D printer, launched earlier this year. The system is a co-development effort between Prusa Research and Bondtech, transforming the CORE One into a versatile, compact, and budget-friendly manufacturing platform.
The core innovation lies within the INDX Smart Toolhead and the INDX Thin Passive Tools. The Smart Toolhead boasts an aluminum body and a self-adjusting dual-extrusion feeder that automatically adapts to materials of varying hardness without manual tuning. It offers a breakthrough speed in addition to integrated induction heating. Contactless temperature sensing can take the nozzle from room temperature to its operating temperature in a matter of seconds.
The accompanying Thin Passive Tools are lightweight modules that enable remarkably close spacing (just 35 mm center-to-center), allowing the CORE One to host up to eight tools at the same time. This configuration facilitates the combination of different colors and materials with near-zero waste and eliminates lengthy filament swaps.
“When I saw what Bondtech was building, I immediately knew it had the potential to change the perspective of multi-material printing on single-head printers,” said Josef Prusa, CEO of Prusa Research. “Together, we made sure the INDX feels native on the CORE One.“
The responsibilities in the collaboration were divided based on expertise: Bondtech focused on refining the extrusion technology and toolheads, while Prusa’s engineering team managed the seamless integration of the system into the CORE One’s hardware, firmware, and PrusaSlicer.
“At Bondtech, we’ve always believed that real innovation comes from collaboration,” said Martin Bondéus, CEO and founder of Bondtech. “With Prusa, we found a partner that cares as much as we do about quality and user experience.”
The first run, a Founders Edition of 1000 units, will be available for pre-order exclusively from the Bondtech website, with shipping anticipated for Q1 2026.
